Michael Jackson Misses Sunshine in 1972

The first pick has to be a Michael Jackson song.

Due to his recent and unexpected passing, I find myself listening to his music a lot (On vinyl, of course!). This was track one from side one of little Michael's 1972 album entitled "Got To Be There" which contained great cover songs like Bobby Day's 'Rockin' Robin' and Carole King's 'You've Got A Friend'.

This was the first attempt to package Michael as a solo artist on a record without his brothers. I like this track because I am also a really big Bill Withers fan, who wrote and performed this song originally on his landmark 1971 album "Just As I Am".

  1. I don't love the beginning, I won't lie. It's an amazing track considering how young he was. What a talented artist and tragic loss.

  2. Bill Withers is the best, but this was an interesting listen. I had no idea he covered this.
