Stevie Wonder And Michael Jackson Get It (1987)

Well, creating this site yesterday was so fun, I just can't stay away.

Still thinking and listening to Michael Jackson a lot, so I thought I would share a kind of obscure track on which he sings. Today's track comes from Stevie Wonder's 1987 album called "Characters" where the most notable song was probably 'Skeletons'. The album is not really up to par with some of Wonder's earlier works like "Songs In The Key Of Life" in 1977 or even "Innervisions" in 1973, but still worth a listen.

This album was part of his post-'I Just Called To Say I Love You' period, where many of his songs were hit and miss. That being said, a Stevie Wonder album is a lot like pizza, even when it is not great, it is still pretty good.

Today's track is called 'Get It' and is one of the lesser known Michael Jackson duets out there. It is also the second time that he and Stevie Wonder collaborated, with the first being the 80's anthem 'We Are The World (USA For Africa)'.

Anyway, check out Wonder & Jackson on 'Get It'. Just click the link below.

Michael Jackson Misses Sunshine in 1972

The first pick has to be a Michael Jackson song.

Due to his recent and unexpected passing, I find myself listening to his music a lot (On vinyl, of course!). This was track one from side one of little Michael's 1972 album entitled "Got To Be There" which contained great cover songs like Bobby Day's 'Rockin' Robin' and Carole King's 'You've Got A Friend'.

This was the first attempt to package Michael as a solo artist on a record without his brothers. I like this track because I am also a really big Bill Withers fan, who wrote and performed this song originally on his landmark 1971 album "Just As I Am".

Click the link and give it a listen.

Now That's All We Need....Another Vinyl Blog

Welcome one and all to Collecting Vinyl Records (And Loving It). A real music collector's blog.

What's that, you say? As if your man 'Raf' doesn't spent enough time ranting and raving, now he wants to have a music blog? That's right friends. What good is a hobby if you can't share it with the other captains of the blog-o-sphere.

I sometimes cover popular music on my other blog; but this blog is really to talk about and share some great vintage tracks from yester-year.

I've been collecting vinyl records for almost a decade now, and there are a lot of great gems hidden on my shelves just waiting to get out. I collect all types of music on vinyl; Jazz, R&B, Classic Rock, 80's New Wave, even the occasional Country or Reggae album sneaks into my collection. On this blog I will try and share some of what I have.

My goal is to upload a new song every week, personally picked from my own personal album collection. If there are any artists you particularly want to hear from, just let me know. Now let me try and find my first track.....
